Minnesota Vikings - Mock Draft #3 (Mid-combine draft)

Posted by zfootball on February 24, 2013 at 1:15 PM

Round 1, Pick 23) Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee - Quicker, better jumper, more sure-handed than previous Round 1 pick, DeAndre Hopkins.  Justin Hunter is a great pick for us.

Round 2, Pick 22) Kawann Short, DT, Purdue - He is a big guy, young, and beast, ready to plug the middle.  I attended the Purdue vs. Golden Gophers game this year at TCF Bank Stadium and no one on Purdue intrigued me as much as Short.

Round 3, Pick 21) Bacarri Rambo, S, Georgia - Again, the kid is a beast.  Receiver would cringe, yadda yadda yadda.  All you need to know is Harrison Smith, Bacarri Rambo and Antoine Winfield is a deadly secondary that any defender would hate to play against.

Round 4, Pick 5) Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, Connecticut - Haven't seen DBs yet so, Wreh-Wilson still is the best pick for this spot.

Round 4, Pick 23) Tyrann Matheiu, CB/KR, Formerly Louisiana State - It seems he has cleaned up his act for good.  Dynamic player.  Hey Spielman... take the Honey Badger.

Round 5, Pick 22) Philip Lutzenkirchen, TE, Auburn - Lutzenkirchen has really impressed me at the combine... enough for me to move him 2 rounds in my mock draft.  Tight Ends are a QB's best friend (look at Brady has Hernandez & Gronkowski, Ryan has Gonzalez, Brees has Graham), a dual TE package of Kyle Rudolph (Pro Bowl MVP) and Philip Lutzenkirchen would be great in the development of Christian Ponder/Joe Webb/McLeod Bethel-Thompson, whoever it might be.

Round 6, Pick 21) Bruce Taylor, ILB, Virginia Tech, A good player in the middle to develop sit him behind Brinkley for one season while coaching him or hope he turns out like Vontaze Burfict did for the Bengals.

Round 7, Pick 7) Marqueis Gray, QB, Minnesota - I've made up mind on Marqueis... for now.  First thoughts after the combine were wow.  All it takes is to look at the deep throwing drill.  Mike Glennon (who many project to be a 1st Rounder) was constantly missing throws that Marqueis was hitting right on the money.  Mike Mayock kept saying how he will be an H-back, but it looks as thought Marqueis's throwing was greatly improved even since the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

Roudn 7, Pick 23) Brad Wing, P, Lousiana State - A real deep ball punter, first time I've added a Punter into the mock draft since Jackson Rice.  Wing was fantastic at LSU.  (Also is known for a famous trick play that was called back).

If you aren't posting something serious, don't post anything at all.
